Twitter brings Paytm to the Tips feature in India

As of yesterday, users of the social media platform Twitter Tips will be able to make payments through the Indian payment gateway Paytm.

Twitter introduced the ability for users to post Tips to their profiles in May through a beta test that featured "influential and diverse voices on the service, including journalists, creators, and more," allowing people to send and receive cash. Twitter rolled out Tips last November for all users 18 and older in India.

Tips can be activated in the 'Edit Profile' section and to send money, users can tap the icon to see a list of payment services or platforms enabled by the account.

Users who enable Tips will get an icon next to their profile, Tips can be sent as cash or bitcoin and are sent from Twitter via third party payment services.

“Paytm's interface allows people to support individuals and organizations across India through multiple payment methods, including UPI, credit and debit cards, internet banking, wallets and more,” Twitter said in the announcement.

Twitter added Razorpay as an additional payment provider for Tips in India last year. The Tips feature is available in multiple Indian languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi and Tamil.
