Trump Has Launched His Social Network
We knew it was going to happen eventually; TRUTH, Donald Trump's social network, has just been released on the App Store in the United States.
Since Trump announced this new business last October, a lot has happened. Investors put $1 billion into the Digital World Acquisition Corp, a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) formed to fund the Truth platform, in December of last year. In January, rumors about the social network's impending launch arose without a specific launch date, so the company began testing the software in a restricted beta with roughly 500 people.
All of this began last year when Trump was banned from major social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Shopify while still in office. Since then, he and his allies have called for a platform to combat "Big Tech's tyranny," and Donald Trump Jr. even pushed Elon Musk to construct one, but I guess he was too busy elsewhere. After no one responded to the appeal, Trump and his team opted to create their platform, which is where we are now.
Conservative social media platforms such as Gettr and Gab have been around for a long time. Trump's Truth, on the other hand, might be the ultimate right-wing flag bearer — and a new home for those who have been banished from mainstream platforms. There are a lot of uncertainties about how the platform will work and how it will deal with the obvious issues of moderating user-generated content.
Truth must avoid Parler's tragedy more than growth or income production by suppressing hate speech. Otherwise, it may be deleted from the App Store, resulting in a loss of users.
Trump supporters are out with their megaphones now that the social network has debuted, saying that the app is already a success — although most of them are on...a waiting list. Truth social's website is currently blocking new visitors, possibly to avoid a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack.
In the end, I think it’s right to commend Trump for staying true to his conservative principles and announcing a Web2-based platform in 2022. For the time being, there will be no TrumpCoin or TruthDAO though.
