TikTok Sponsors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC with Uplift from TV Show

Wrexham AFC, whose joint owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have made ripples in the media, has signed a sponsorship deal with TikTok, extending the company's engagement in football. Their ownership will be promoted on TikTok for the following two seasons via the club account, as part of a media journey that will culminate in a Netflix series.

In addition, the TikTok name and emblem will be featured on the new shirts. The deal, in particular, promises to ‘break new ground' by extending the reach of the TV show Welcome to Wrexham. Wrexham AFC executive director Humphrey Ker said: "We were blown away by TikTok's plans for their cooperation with the club. The ability to use the entire platform presents a community-building opportunity that many will be envious of. Having TikTok in front of our jerseys is a wonderful coup,” Ker continued, “and we are confident it will be popular among our followers, as well as those who are active on TikTok.”

Reynolds and McElhenney will appear on the TikTok account to entice users to the site. After winning sponsorship of Euro 2020 at record speed earlier this year, TikTok has launched a serious push into football. Nick Tran, TikTok's global head of marketing, said, "TikTok is perfectly positioned at the center of entertainment, technology, and the creator community to help bring Wrexham AFC's story to life to worldwide audiences." The Drum ranked our favorite Ryan Reynolds commercials last week, which you can watch here.
