TikTok owner ByteDance aims for Hong Kong IPO by early 2022
Upon handling Chinese regulators' concerns, ByteDance, the Chinese owner of short video platform TikTok, has revitalized its agenda to go public with a Hong Kong listing by early 2022, as per the Financial Times on Sunday.
According to the Financial Times, ByteDance intends to be listed in the fourth quarter of this year or early 2022, quoting sources knowledgeable with the subject.
"ByteDance is expected to provide final guidance in September. They are currently submitting all filings to Chinese authorities and are undergoing the review process", as stated by a source quoted by the newspaper.
A ByteDance spokesperson, however, informed Reuters that the FT report was incorrect. More information was not disclosed by the spokesperson.
ByteDance, based in Beijing, stated in April that it had no immediate plans for an initial public offering (IPO).
In recent months, Chinese regulators have intensified their inspection of the technology sector. According to the FT report, ByteDance has been seeking ways to reduce data security issues identified by regulators
