TikTok Lengthens Video Limit to 3 Minutes

Tired of TikTok's 60 seconds video limit and don't want to make numerous clips anymore? TikTok has some good news for you!

TikTok has been testing the options to create longer videos since late last year. They have decided to extend the current maximum clip length of 60 seconds to 3 minutes.

"Creators are already well-versed in weaving multi-part stories together on TikTok (we all know the phrase, ‘like and follow for part 3’) but we often hear from creators that they’d love just a little more time to bring their cooking demos, elaborate beauty tutorials, educational lesson plans, and comedic sketches to life with TikTok’s creative tools. With longer videos, creators will have the canvas to create new or expanded types of content on TikTok, with the flexibility of a bit more space." said Drew Kirchoff, TikTok's product manager.

Here's a sample video where TikToker @chowderthebulldog tries the longer maximum video length.

Initially, TikTok's video were restricted to 15 seconds as the maximum length, but was later changed to a minute. Still, users would definitely appreciate the new 3-minute maximum, as this change would give a new way for richer storytelling and entertainment. Probably we will be seeing less "tag me on part nth" after this improvement.

A risky move from TikTok perhaps, as its competitors like Snapchat Spotlight and YouTube shorts are running with the same maximum video length in the current. This expansion can be a double-edged sword for TikTok as it can help differentiate the platform from their rivals, but it may also lead to disappearance of its short format's charm and their audience's attention span will be in question too.

Do you think the majority of TikTok users will love this new feature?
