Meta Has Introduced The AI Research SuperCluster (RSC) to Support Development of The Metaverse

Meta has mentioned that RSC will build new and improved AI models, work across hundreds of different languages and develop new augmented reality tools.

AI Research SuperCluster (RSC) is one of the fastest AI supercomputers and can currently perform tasks such as translating text between languages and helping identify potentially harmful content, but developing the next generation of AI requires powerful supercomputers capable of up to trillions of operations per second.

RSC will help build better AI models that can learn from trillions of examples, work in different languages, analyze text, images and video together and developing new augmented reality tools.

Ultimately, it will pave the way for building technologies in the metaverse, where AI-powered applications and products will play an important role.

The development of AI at Meta started as early as 2013, including self-directed learning, where algorithms can learn from a large number of unlabeled examples and transformers, allowing AI models to reason by focusing on certain areas of their input.

To fully reap the benefits of advanced AI, different domains, be it vision, speech or language, will need to train increasingly larger and more complex models, especially for critical use cases such as identifying malicious content.

RSC will help more quickly train models that use multimodal signals to determine whether an action, sound or image is harmful or benign.

With all this, the foundation for metaverse has been laid...
