Google Improves Business Discovery with a New Recycling Attribute
Google has recently released a new recycling element to business profiles, following the upsurge of 'recycling' queries on Google Search. This attribute allows businesses to boost awareness of their recycling programs and generate additional activity in turn.
Businesses may now incorporate the new recycling element in their Google My Business listing, which will appear in both Google Search and Google Maps, as seen here.
According to Google:
“By adding the new recycling attribute to Business Profiles, local storefronts and shops can show the recycling services they offer in just a few clicks - whether it’s for plastic bottles, electronics or glass bottles. As a result, people looking for something like “battery recycling near me” can more easily pinpoint local businesses on Search with the in-store recycling they need. Adding this information to the Business Profile, ultimately, can help these businesses to stand out.”
Matter of fact, as per Google, "recycling" became one of the top Search terms, and 'supporting eco-conscious brands' is a prominent factor for 82 percent of customers who place a high value on sustainability.
Considering this, if you do provide any sort of recycling services, you may be able to take advantage of the new attribute to boost traffic and attract more customers.
To include the recycling attribute to your business profile, follow these steps:
Go to your Google My Business profile (you may do a Google search for "my business" or go to Google My Business).
Go to 'Edit profile' and then 'Business information.'
Select the 'More' tab at the top of the page.
Choose the category you'd want to update.
Select 'Yes' or 'No' next to the attribute.
Select 'Save' after you're done modifying your attributes.
